The Big Slide is located at the Mount Tabor Park in Rocky Ridge, Maryland. The Park is owned by Mount Tabor Lutheran and United Church of Christ.
The present sliding board was built in March and April of 1950 by many members from the church and the local community.
The all wooden sliding board with "five humps and five dips" is made of hardwood flooring. It stands forty feet high, eight feet higher than the original wooden slide. It was built with lumber from trees cut down within the Park and hauled to a local saw mill for planing. All time and labor was volunteer.
It is known to be the largest wooden sliding board in Frederick County and the State of Maryland. The town of Rocky Ridge is proud to be called the "Home of the Big Slide".
